Here is the email from Louise Jones about the Class of 1978 and their desire to renovate the pond:
In 2003, in honor of their 25th reunion , the Mary Institute Class of 1978 raised money to be designated for the Naturalization of Smen Pond. Mimi Carnal '78 who is a current parent, is spearheading this project for her classmates. She has been in contact with Scott Gates and Suburbia Gardens. It is her desire to get the ball rolling on this project shortly. She is trying to make sure her wish list fits and is in line with the dollars they have to spend. It makes sense to me to get input from all of you as to the ways you would use the pond across the three divisions so the naturalization process can meet your curriculum needs. Let me know if you would like to have input on this and if you would be willing to share your suggestions with Mimi via e-mail or in person.
I just wanted to throw out for the pond group that they are planning on renovating the US gym and pool. The current plan looks to change the pool from its current East/West direction to North/South. I do not know if they are worried about the pond. N/S could be really close to the pond unless they move the pool to the west end of the building.
